About The Position

Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is seeking a Culture and Lifeskills Coordinator in Burns Lake, BC. CSFS is a leader in Indigenous health and family services, emphasizing culture in all its operations. The organization serves 11 member Nations with over 545 employees. This role offers the opportunity to practice differently, experiencing unique community connections and the natural beauty of northern BC.

Requirements

• Diploma in Human or Social Services, Community Services, and/or related fields with 1+ years experience; or a Certificate in a related area plus 2 years experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Candidates with Aboriginal Ancestry will be given preference in accordance with BC Human Rights Code and Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

• Experience working in a leadership capacity with at-risk and high-risk youth is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan and implement recreational, cultural support, and programming for youth.
• Provide educational opportunities for at-risk youth in areas such as health and wellness, addictions, family violence, abuse, self-esteem, and culture and traditions.
• Engage youth, families, and knowledge holders in healthy activities.
• Assist in implementing prevention programs and facilitating events.
• Identify the need for, plan, facilitate, and evaluate workshops to promote cultural knowledge and life skills.
