About The Position

Join UW Health’s culinary team at University Hospital in Madison. The Culinary Retail Assistant helps ensure that food is safely provided to the right customer at the right time, while delivering customer service to patients, families, staff, and visitors. The role includes setting up meal service lines, portioning and serving food, working as a short-order line cook, processing payments, and sanitizing dishes, cookware, equipment, and the work environment. This is a 100% FTE position working 40 hours per week. Scheduled shifts are 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; hours may vary based on department operational needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Food service and/or customer service experience is preferred.
ServSafe certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, staff, and visitors.
Accurately set up meal service lines, portion food items, and serve meals.
Work as a short-order line cook.
Process payment transactions efficiently and accurately as a cashier, in a professional manner.
Sanitize dishes, cookware, equipment, and the environment.
