About The Position

The Seasonal Salad Bar Culinary Assistant performs food preparation, cooking, and customer-service tasks, and may assist in other department areas such as BBQ and Pizza. The role includes setting up and maintaining buffet displays, checking and documenting food temperatures, packaging finished products, and following health, sanitation, and safety regulations. Team members are expected to provide friendly customer service, collaborate with colleagues, and represent the store’s S.T.E.W. values. The position is seasonal and hourly, with an estimated pay range of $18.25 to $21.38 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. The posting says team members may be able to start as soon as one week after applying.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Complete two weeks of training.
Safely use or operate knives, knife sharpeners, scalers, scales, and wrapping machines.
Provide excellent customer service.
Have good oral communication skills.
Be able to frequently walk, stand, and reach; occasionally pull, push, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Be able to work with frequent exposure to grease, oil, and extreme non-weather-related heat, and occasional exposure to smoke, noise, and weather.

Responsibilities

Set up the buffet according to established standards.
Ensure buffet food items have proper signage.
Refill and rotate food on the buffet when required.
Wipe down and clean the buffet as needed.
Stock supplies for the hot and cold bar.
Check food temperature every two hours and document it in the temperature log.
Maintain, fill, and rotate products on display while monitoring dates.
Package finished products.
Follow health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
Assist in other duties as assigned.
Greet customers with a friendly smile and positive attitude, ensuring they feel welcome and appreciated.
Collaborate with team members to support smooth store operations.
Help improve and maintain store efficiency.
Represent the store positively in interactions with customers and team members.
