The CT Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. They operate CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment. The role involves examining requests, verifying orders, and consulting with the Radiologist before performing exams. The technologist is responsible for patient identification, explanation of procedures, preparation, and obtaining medical history. They also prepare and administer IV contrast, evaluate image quality, and recognize abnormal anatomy. Basic patient care functions, life support measures, and assisting in "code blue" procedures are also part of the role. The technologist practices proper sterile technique, adheres to radiation safety standards, and maintains knowledge of bloodborne pathogens and infection control. They are expected to perform work accurately and timely, rotate shifts including call back, holidays, and weekends, and adhere to the attendance policy. The role also includes operating the radiology computer system, documenting contrast administration, and maintaining a clean and stocked work area. Assistance to other medical personnel may also be required.
