The CT Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. This role operates CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency, including scanner, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport, and patient monitoring equipment. The position involves examining requests, verifying orders, and consulting with the Radiologist for any discrepancies. The technologist is responsible for patient identification, explanation of procedures, preparation, and obtaining complete medical history. They will review patient EMRs, record medical history, and correlate test results. The role includes preparing and administering IV contrast, evaluating image quality, recognizing abnormal anatomy, and performing basic patient care functions. The CT Technologist will also initiate life support measures, assist in code blue procedures, and perform CT scanning and assist Radiologists/PAs during invasive procedures. They must practice proper sterile technique, adhere to bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies, and follow radiation safety standards. The position requires operating the radiology computer system, documenting contrast administration, and maintaining a clean and stocked work area. Collaboration with other medical personnel is also expected.
