The CT Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. This role operates CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency, including scanner, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport, and patient monitoring equipment. The technologist is responsible for the exam from beginning to completion of dictated results, including preparing and administering IV contrast according to departmental protocols, evaluating image quality, and recognizing abnormal anatomy. Basic patient care functions are also performed, including initiating life support measures when necessary and assisting in "code blue" procedures. The role also involves practicing proper sterile technique, adhering to radiation safety principles, and maintaining knowledge of bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease. Additionally, the technologist operates the radiology computer system, documents contrast administration, and maintains a clean and stocked work area. They may also assist other medical personnel during exams or services in conjunction with a CT scan.
