The CT Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. They operate CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment. The role involves examining requests, verifying orders, and consulting with the Radiologist for any discrepancies. The technologist is responsible for patient identification, explanation of procedures, preparation, and obtaining medical history. They also evaluate technical quality of images, recognize abnormal anatomy, and perform basic patient care functions. This includes initiating life support measures and assisting in code blue procedures. The technologist performs CT scanning and assists Radiologists/PAs during invasive procedures, practicing sterile technique and adhering to bloodborne pathogen and infection control policies. They are authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed and practice radiation safety for themselves, employees, patients, and family members. The role requires adherence to hospital fire and safety procedures, attending in-service classes, and completing safety modules. Work is performed accurately and timely, even in crisis situations. The technologist rotates shifts as required, including call back, holidays, and weekends, and adheres to the Atrium Health attendance policy. They operate the radiology computer system, document contrast administration, and maintain a neat, orderly, and stocked work area. They also assist other medical personnel when performing exams or services in conjunction with a CT scan.
