CSS Technician, Full-Time 7am - 3pm, rotating weekends, and holidays, VOLOL Camden
About The Position
The CSS Technician supports Infection Control by collecting, cleaning, disinfecting, and distributing portable patient care equipment that has been prepared, documented, and inspected for bedside use. The role also cleans, decontaminates, sterilizes, and distributes medical and surgical instruments used by care teams in Operating Rooms, Labor & Delivery, and other locations where invasive procedures are performed, including Endoscopy. This is a full-time, on-site position at Virtua’s Lourdes Health System location in Camden. The schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with rotating weekends and holidays, for 40 hours per week.
Requirements
- High school diploma or Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED).
- Successful completion of a sterile processing course at an accredited or state-licensed post-secondary, professional, vocational, or adult education institution, or successful completion of a program or course designed to prepare students for the CRCST certification examination.
- CRCST or CBSPD certification required within six months of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous sterile processing experience preferred.
- CER certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments, powered surgical equipment, and endoscopes into instrument trays or individual packages for sterilization.
- Collect and clean or disinfect patient care equipment and surgical instruments from clinical units, the Operating Room, Labor & Delivery, and other areas performing invasive procedures.
- Assist with orientation and training of new hires.
- Operate and monitor decontamination and sterilization equipment, and document biological and mechanical results.
- Deliver patient care equipment; inventory specialty carts; replenish department supplies and the centralized Operating Room Case Cart System; and prepare and distribute clean and sterile equipment and supplies.
- Transport soiled and sterile surgical instrumentation between facilities.
