About The Position

The Central Sterile Services Technician is responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, assembling, wrapping, and/or containerizing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, then sterilizing or sanitizing them using steam, gas, plasma, or other required methods. The technician tests sterilization equipment and reports issues or problems, and prepares and delivers equipment and instruments needed for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts. The role involves work in two Central Sterile Services areas: Decontamination and Processing, and may include additional duties within the scope of the role. The position involves, but is not limited to, the Central Sterile, Surgery, and Logistics departments.

The primary location is Montgomery Surgical Center. The position is regular, full-time, and first shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of written and oral communication skills.
• Organizational, telephone, and computer skills.
• Ability to follow written, oral, or electronic instructions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in medical supply, surgical instruments, and equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, assemble, wrap, and/or containerize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Sterilize or sanitize instruments, supplies, and equipment using steam, gas, plasma, or other required methods.
• Test sterilization equipment and report issues or problems.
• Prepare and deliver equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts.
• Perform duties in the Decontamination and Processing areas and other assigned duties within the scope of the role.
