Critical Support Specialist, NA - Chiller SME
About The Position
The Critical Support Specialist is an on-site, chiller-focused subject matter expert working at a data center as part of Vantage’s Site Operations team. The role supports reliable, uninterrupted data center operations by performing specialized maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and operational tasks in the employee’s technical area. The specialist independently manages complex maintenance projects and system enhancements, responds to safety incidents and emergencies, adapts work to shifting priorities, and collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and technical partners. The position requires occasional travel of less than 5% for training and professional development, which may increase as the business evolves. The role is eligible for company benefits. For the VA state CSS, the stated range is $71–$75 per hour plus an annual bonus target for highly skilled talent.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of direct hands-on experience maintaining and repairing systems in mission-critical environments, specifically in the relevant area of expertise.
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance practices and operational standards relevant to the specialization.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and operational manuals.
- Strong technical writing skills and experience creating and updating methods of procedure (MOPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
- Completion of formal specialized training, such as chiller systems training.
- Current professional licensure or certification relevant to the technical specialization.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Ability to travel occasionally (less than 5%) for training and professional development; travel may increase as the business evolves.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support.
- Comfort working in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl, and reach with hands and arms for 1/3–2/3 of the time, as applicable.
- Ability to smell, talk, hear, use hands to type, handle, and feel, and see at close and distance ranges and distinguish color.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 1/3 of the time.
