The Crisis Peer Partner I supports a Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), a 23-hour-and-59-minute unit serving adults age 18 and older who need intensive stabilization services. The program aims to divert people from 5150 holds and psychiatric hospital stays. This position provides strengths-based, culturally respectful, trauma-informed stabilization support to people experiencing mental health crises, helping them connect with community resources and natural supports and transition to the lowest level of care needed. The role is on call. Staff submit written availability by the 15th of each month for the following month, including at least eight days, with at least four weekend days, and agree to cover at least one holiday shift annually. Staff provide advance written notice of unavailability or planned extended time off. Shift offers depend on program needs, and there is no penalty when staffing support is not required. Employees are expected to arrive punctually for scheduled shifts and, when called for an unexpected last-minute shift, within two hours. The position provides direct, billable mental health services, documents services in accordance with MediCal regulations, and meets productivity expectations. Duties may vary by program. Driving to people in crisis at the identified location is required. The role may involve unsupervised contact with children and requires a full background check and TB exam.
