About The Position

Provides direct face-to-face (via walk-in clinic or mobile response) and telephone contact crisis intervention services. Services include evaluation, crisis counseling, information and referral to a wide variety of collateral agencies, families and resources. Crisis Worker responsible for arranging admission to an inpatient psychiatric facility for individuals subject to Chapter 51 detentions. Responsible for ensuring services provided by the least restrictive and clinically appropriate means and ensures treatment/recovery is in accordance with best practice and professional ethics and boundaries, and code of conduct. Provide and arrange for provision of support services and collaboration with other community resources and providers. Evaluate the need for protective services under Chapter 55, guardianships and alternative placements. Provides liaison services between clients and community agencies. Assists clients with referrals to other caregivers, with financial matters, and with other issues as necessary.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field and clinical experience in an outpatient or inpatient mental health program is preferred.
  • In evaluating candidates for this position, the County may consider a combination of education, training and experience that may provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology and treatment modalities.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and county laws, rules relating to Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Disabilities.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and assessments, administer psychosocial evaluations and provide client specific interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Arranges admission to an inpatient psychiatric facility for individuals subject to Chapter 51 detentions.
  • Ensures services provided by the least restrictive and clinically appropriate means and ensures treatment/recovery is in accordance with best practice and professional ethics and boundaries, and code of conduct.
  • Provides and arranges for provision of support services and collaboration with other community resources and providers.
  • Evaluates the need for protective services under Chapter 55, guardianships and alternative placements.
  • Provides liaison services between clients and community agencies.
  • Assists clients with referrals to other caregivers, with financial matters, and with other issues as necessary.
  • Writes and maintains progress notes related to a consumer's treatment/recovery plan and assessments.
  • Provides testimony, written/oral reports, and performs any other court-related duties as assigned.
  • Ensures security and confidentiality of all consumer/treatment records.
  • Determines and reviews any potential reimbursement by third-party payers when applicable.
  • Follows Wisconsin Medicaid's medical record documentation requirements and covered services as they apply.
  • Bills all allowable services and submits billing as directed.
  • Maintains efficient, timely and accurate completion of required records, reports, and other necessary paperwork within specified timeframes according to rules, regulations and agency policy.
  • Ensures compliance with Human Service Reporting System (HSRS) and other State or Agency systems for data collection.
  • Makes clinical and case management decisions independently or in collaboration with the crisis coordinator.
  • Participates in regular clinical supervision and Outpatient to address outreach caseload.
  • Seeks approval from the Director of Outpatient Mental Health Services for any community education and/or in-service training to outside agencies, schools, organizations and professionals throughout the County.
