About The Position

This position provides direct crisis intervention services through face-to-face contact (walk-in clinic or mobile response) and telephone. Services include evaluation, crisis counseling, and providing information and referrals to collateral agencies, families, and resources. The Crisis Worker is responsible for arranging admission to an inpatient psychiatric facility for individuals subject to Chapter 51 detentions. The role ensures services are provided in the least restrictive and clinically appropriate manner, adhering to best practices, professional ethics, boundaries, and codes of conduct. Additionally, the position provides and arranges for support services, collaborates with community resources and providers, and evaluates the need for protective services under Chapter 55, guardianships, and alternative placements. Liaison services are provided between clients and community agencies, assisting clients with referrals, financial matters, and other necessary issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field is preferred.
  • Clinical experience in an outpatient or inpatient mental health program is preferred.
  • Ability to make clinical and case management decisions independently or in collaboration.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and assessments.
  • Ability to administer psychosocial evaluations.
  • Ability to provide client-specific interventions.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and county laws, rules relating to Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct face-to-face and telephone crisis intervention services, including evaluation, crisis counseling, and information/referral.
  • Arranges admission to inpatient psychiatric facilities for individuals subject to Chapter 51 detentions.
  • Ensures services are provided by the least restrictive and clinically appropriate means, in accordance with best practices and professional ethics.
  • Provides and arranges for support services and collaboration with other community resources and providers.
  • Evaluates the need for protective services under Chapter 55, guardianships, and alternative placements.
  • Provides liaison services between clients and community agencies, assisting with referrals, financial matters, and other issues.
  • Writes and maintains progress notes related to consumer treatment/recovery plans and assessments.
  • Provides testimony, written/oral reports, and performs court-related duties as assigned.
  • Ensures security and confidentiality of all consumer/treatment records.
  • Determines and reviews potential reimbursement by third-party payers, follows Wisconsin Medicaid requirements, and bills allowable services.
  • Maintains efficient, timely, and accurate completion of required records, reports, and paperwork.
  • Ensures compliance with Human Service Reporting System (HSRS) and other state or agency data collection systems.
  • Makes clinical and case management decisions independently or in collaboration with the crisis coordinator.
  • Participates in regular clinical supervision and Outpatient to address outreach caseload.
  • Conducts interviews and assessments, administers psychosocial evaluations, and provides client-specific interventions.
