About The Position

Hastings College is seeking a full-time Criminology, Criminal Justice, or Sociology faculty member to begin in August 2027. The rank is open (tenure or non-tenure) and will be contingent upon the selected candidate's educational background, teaching experience, and scholarly achievements, subject to final determination by the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Experience in providing leadership for curriculum development and interdepartmental collaboration will be strongly considered.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field is required.
• Demonstrated teaching experience is required, either concurrent to, or following graduate studies.
• The ability to work well as a member of a department and campus community at liberal arts college is essential.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• This position is not eligible for work visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

• PhD preferred but will also consider Master's degree candidates with relevant industry, technical, or applied professional background.
• Experience in providing leadership for curriculum development and interdepartmental collaboration will be strongly considered.

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology courses to departmental majors, other majors, and in the general education curriculum.
• Instruct within the block schedule, utilizing 8-week terms to facilitate focused, immersive learning.
• Serve as an academic advisor to students.
• Contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives.
