About The Position

The Department of Criminal Justice at High Point University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure faculty position. Rank is negotiable based on qualifications and experience, with promotion opportunities available within the non-tenure-track faculty structure. The position begins in August of 2027. The University seeks applicants who are committed to education as an experiential and life-enhancing process.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in criminal justice/criminology and a J.D. (preferred).
• ABD welcome (degree must be in hand prior to official start date).
• Ph.D. in criminal justice/criminology or closely related field.
• J.D. and master’s in criminal justice/criminology or closely related field.
• J.D. and applicable experience.
• Ability to cover coursework in law, including courts and trials, criminal law, criminal evidence, and mock trial.
• Knowledge of the above course subjects.

Nice To Haves

• Qualifications to teach international and security related courses, forensic courses, violent crime, and/or intro to the justice system are desired.
• Specialties surrounding criminal law, courts and trials, criminal evidence, and mock trial.

Responsibilities

• Teaching coursework in law, including courts and trials, criminal law, criminal evidence, and mock trial.
• Teaching international and security related courses, forensic courses, violent crime, and/or intro to the justice system.
• Research.
• Performing departmental service.
• Student mentorship.
