About The Position

The Department of Criminal Justice at High Point University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure faculty position. The rank is negotiable based on qualifications and experience, with promotion opportunities available within the non-tenure-track faculty structure. The position begins in August of 2027. The position requires the ability to cover coursework in law, including courts and trials, criminal law, criminal evidence, and mock trial. Qualifications to teach international and security related courses, forensic courses, violent crime, and/or intro to the justice system are desired. Duties include teaching, research, and performing departmental service as part of a close and vital faculty team. The University seeks applicants who are committed to education as an experiential and life-enhancing process.

Requirements

Ph.D. in criminal justice/criminology and a J.D. (ABD welcome, degree must be in hand prior to official start date)
Ph.D. in criminal justice/criminology or closely related field (ABD welcome, degree must be in hand prior to official start date)
J.D. and master’s in criminal justice/criminology or closely related field
J.D. and applicable experience
Ability to cover coursework in law, including courts and trials, criminal law, criminal evidence, and mock trial
Knowledge of the above course subjects

Nice To Haves

Candidates with a Ph.D. in criminal justice/criminology and a J.D. will be given preference
Qualifications to teach international and security related courses, forensic courses, violent crime, and/or intro to the justice system are desired
Preference will be given to candidates whose specialties surround criminal law, courts and trials, criminal evidence, and mock trial
Ability to teach international and security related courses, forensic courses, violent crime or into to the justice system is preferred but not required
