About The Position

Under general supervision, the Credits Representative identifies, analyzes, and resolves credit balances within an assigned portfolio of accounts. The representative applies acquired job skills while performing credit responsibilities in compliance with company policies and procedures. The role may include a focus on one or more departments or locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• 1–2 years of related experience in medical-field credit or insurance collections.
• Good computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email applications.
• Detail-oriented, with good analytical and organizational skills.
• Good time-management skills and the ability to manage concurrent priorities in an organized manner.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and cohesively within a team environment.
• Positive, enthusiastic, and energetic attitude.
• Strong oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels of management.

• Knowledge of state statute limitations.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned responsibilities in compliance with company policies and procedures, meeting or exceeding goals within company-defined timelines.
• Work credit balances to resolution by identifying the type of credit and taking appropriate action.
• Identify, analyze, and research refund requests from Commercial, Government, and Patient sources for accuracy and submit them for refund.
• Submit appropriate cash corrections and system adjustments to resolve posting issues causing credit balances.
• Perform insurance verifications and take appropriate action to resolve coordination of benefits (COB) issues causing credit balances.
• Contact insurance providers to verify that credit balances remain outstanding and follow appropriate steps to resolve account credits based on the response.
• Identify credits caused by trends and report them to the team lead or manager for appropriate action.
• Assist with projects assigned by the direct supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
