Creative Specialist Marketing and Proposals

GEOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGIES GROUP INC
•$60,000 - $70,000•Remote

About The Position

Geographic Technologies Group (GTG) is hiring a Creative Specialist to create compelling marketing content and proposal materials for local governments and utilities. The role combines brand-building marketing work with creative support for proposals and presentations. It requires moving between visual design and writing, and adapting technical GIS information for both technical and executive audiences. About half of the position involves proposal and pursuit work with fixed submission deadlines. The position is remote, full-time, and exempt. It reports to the Director of Proposals and is part of the Growth: Marketing, Pursuits and Proposals department. Responsibilities span copywriting and content, graphic design, proposal design and production, commercial sales support, and general marketing operations. Success in the first year includes developing on-brand collateral and map-driven case studies, creating sales enablement materials used in active pursuits, improving marketing-sourced leads and conversions, maintaining a consistent GTG voice, and delivering polished proposals with custom graphics on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, geography, GIS, graphic design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of professional marketing and proposal experience, including at least 1 year supporting commercial or B2B/B2G sales.
  • At least 2 years designing proposals, statements of qualifications, or other long, deadline-driven documents; government-buyer experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including styles, templates, section breaks, tables, and captions, and strong PowerPoint skills.
  • A portfolio that includes at least one proposal or other long-form document, not only marketing pieces.
  • A record of fast, accurate work under fixed deadlines.
  • Strong graphic design skills and proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Experience using Claude Design or comparable AI-assisted design tools to produce and iterate on marketing visuals.
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills, with writing samples in at least two formats such as web, email, case study, or proposal.
  • Ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines tied to RFPs, events, and campaigns.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience marketing to local governments, utilities, or public safety agencies, including familiarity with public procurement and RFP processes.
  • Experience with ArcGIS StoryMaps, ArcGIS Dashboards, or Experience Builder.
  • Familiarity with CRM and marketing automation platforms such as HubSpot or Salesforce.
  • Basic website management skills with WordPress or a similar CMS and an understanding of SEO.
  • Experience with video editing or motion graphics for social and event content.
  • Skill using AI tools such as Claude to speed up research, drafting, and content production while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities

  • Write persuasive copy for proposals, website pages, case studies, email campaigns, social posts, brochures, and trade-show materials.
  • Translate technical GIS concepts into plain language for non-technical buyers while preserving accuracy for technical readers.
  • Maintain consistent messaging, voice, product naming, and correct use of GTG trademarks across channels.
  • Develop visual concepts for campaigns, products, and services, often beginning with a strategic idea rather than a finished brief.
  • Design print and digital collateral, including one-pagers, brochures, infographics, ads, social graphics, booth displays, and presentation templates.
  • Use Claude Design to mock up, iterate on, and refine layouts, landing pages, posters, and campaign visuals.
  • Apply and protect GTG brand standards, including colors, typography, and logo usage.
  • Work with GTG GIS consultants to turn project data into visuals that explain results to clients and prospects.
  • Create custom proposal graphics that make win themes and technical approaches easy for evaluators to understand.
  • Format and lay out proposal drafts in Word and PowerPoint, applying GTG templates and client requirements for page limits, fonts, and section order.
  • Create custom layout options for high-priority pursuits, including covers, tabs, section openers, and one-page summaries.
  • Build shortlist and interview presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Turn around graphics and layout changes within hours during the final week before a submission.
  • Maintain the proposal graphics library and templates so reusable assets remain current and easy to find.
  • Partner with business development on lead generation, prospect research, and pursuit strategy.
  • Prepare sales enablement materials, including pitch decks, capability statements, competitive comparisons, and RFP response content.
  • Support conferences, webinars, and client demos, including follow-up campaigns to move leads to opportunities.
  • Track campaign performance and lead conversion in the CRM and report results to marketing and sales leadership.
  • Maintain the website and social channels and manage the marketing content calendar.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors, printers, and event organizers.
  • Monitor local government technology and GIS market trends to inform campaigns.
