About The Position

INNOVIM is seeking support for NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) Climate Program Office (CPO) Modeling, Analysis, Predictions, and Projections (MAPP) office. The candidate will develop and coordinate grant funding competitions, monitor funded research projects, provide technical and organizational expertise, enhance engagement and partnerships, identify and develop strategies for program effectiveness, initiate activities for collaborative efforts, provide expertise in program strategy and execution, and provide customer service to MAPP’s funded investigators and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate grant funding competitions by coordinating and facilitating the proposal review process (mail review and panel review), and monitor funded research projects’ progress by collecting, reviewing, and archiving progress reports.
  • Coordinate, arrange, and track the disbursement of honoraria.
  • Track and administer funded research projects by maintaining comprehensive and accurate records.
  • Provide technical and organizational expertise to engage with program leads in the development of program research priorities, particularly in the areas of drought, heat, model diagnostics, and global model development.
  • Enhance ESSM’s engagement and partnerships with other CPO programs, including via developing and advancing research priorities and collaborations, within OAR and across other NOAA Line Offices, with particular focus on global modeling, prediction, and projections, and with engagement with NIHHIS and National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) research programs and priorities.
  • Identify and develop strategies for program effectiveness, including management of projects and task forces, particularly the Drought Task Force and the Model Diagnostics Task Force.
  • Program effectiveness involves strategic tracking and communication of program accomplishments, such as research transitions to operations and applications, and communication of other research accomplishments to various parties.
  • Initiate activities and plans for collaborative efforts with other agencies.
  • Provide expertise in program strategy and execution, including understanding program policy landscape, formulating research initiatives, and executing research initiatives.
  • Provide customer service to MAPP’s funded investigators and stakeholders, including coordination for award maintenance, communication about program efforts, and engagement with funded investigators on their research progress.
