CPD Tech II
About The Position
The CPD Tech II assists in overseeing and directing or precepting the workflow of Central Processing Technician students and CPD Tech I employees. The role also helps address equipment and supply issues in the work area in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards. The CPD Tech II provides input into staff evaluations, assists with on-shift staff development as appropriate, and serves as a role model and resource to peers and other healthcare team members on the processing of equipment, instruments, and supplies. The position is based in the Sterile Processing department at Farmington Hills Hospital, a Level II trauma center and teaching hospital for Michigan State University. This is a part-time role with a rotating shift, variable hours and days, and variable weekend frequency.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of relevant experience in sterile processing or related sterile processing work.
- Successful completion of an internal or external sterile processing program.
- Upon hire, hold either Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) certification from CBSPD or Registered Central Services Technician, Certified (CRCST) certification from IAHCSMM.
Responsibilities

- Assist with equipment and supply issues in the work area in accordance with established policies, procedures, and AAMI standards.
- Provide input into staff evaluations.
- Assist with staff development on shift, as appropriate.
- Act as a role model and resource to peers and other members of the healthcare team regarding processing equipment, instruments, and supplies.
