Cow Health Specialist (Territory: Indiana & Ohio)
About The Position
The Cow Health Specialist (CHS) is a field-based technical and implementation lead responsible for onboarding, training, cow-health support, and long-term adoption of Elanco solutions on farms. The CHS bridges account strategy and day-to-day execution, ensuring effective product implementation and long-term producer success. The role serves as a subject-matter authority and technical resource for the broader team, supporting customer confidence during the first 90 days of implementation and beyond. The CHS focuses on prioritized portfolio segments, including the bolus portfolio, parasiticides, insecticides, and nutritional health solutions such as Dairy Relieve. In collaboration with Territory Account Managers (TAMs) and Strategic Account Managers (SAMs), the CHS supports accounts and independently owns the sales relationship for a designated customer segment. The position is field-based in the United States, with territory options in Indiana and Ohio and expected travel of 80%.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Business, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in the dairy industry, with emphasis on cow health, nutrition, or farm operations.
- Demonstrated subject-matter authority in enablement, troubleshooting, and protocol implementation.
- Strong presentation and education skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical data for audiences ranging from health crews to farm owners.
- Ability to work as a key account team member in a matrixed environment, coordinating with TAMs, TCs, and SAMs.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; the employer does not anticipate sponsoring employment visa status for this position.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of focused portfolio segments, including bolus products, parasiticides, insecticides, and nutritional health solutions such as Dairy Relieve, and drive their adoption.
- Serve as the primary field specialist for adoption of Elanco solutions, acting as a technical resource for the account team and ensuring on-farm activities align with established animal health protocols.
- Connect account strategy with practical on-farm execution, translating business objectives into measurable health outcomes.
- Lead on-farm education and product implementation in collaboration with the TAM or SAM, ensuring technical protocols are followed.
- Independently manage sales relationships for a designated segment of dairy accounts and support TAM-led accounts with implementation, follow-up, and technical reinforcement.
- Provide high-touch follow-up and protocol reinforcement during the first 90 days of adoption to strengthen customer confidence, minimize churn, and support animal-health results.
- Achieve Customer Care Plan milestones and support long-term portfolio loyalty through consistent on-farm technical reinforcement.
- Identify opportunities within existing and prospective accounts to support growth and portfolio expansion.
- Collaborate with distribution partners to identify growth opportunities and ensure recurring fulfillment after technical onboarding.
- Provide practical value beyond the product sale through consultation on operational efficiency and animal wellbeing.
