About The Position

Courtesy Clerks help create a welcoming Hy-Vee experience by assisting customers from the register to their cars and keeping the store clean, stocked, and organized. The role includes packaging purchases, helping customers, maintaining the store, and assisting wherever needed. It is suited to people who enjoy staying active, helping others, and working as part of a team. No education or prior experience is required; training is provided.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully; employment is contingent upon completion.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers.
Package customer purchases and help transport them to customers’ vehicles or other modes of transportation.
Retrieve carts from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout the shift.
Clean registers, restrooms, the break room, the backroom, floors, the can redemption area, and recycling bins as applicable.
Stock, face, and rotate merchandise; clean shelves; understand shelf tags; and learn merchandise locations in the store and backroom.
Pull products forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearance.
Check product prices as needed.
Maintain front-end supplies, including paper and plastic bags and receipt paper.
Help train new courtesy clerks.
Deliver products to customers and assist in other departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines.
Shovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed.
Work with coworkers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards and Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
