About The Position
The Courtesy Clerk Trainee is a friendly, responsible team member who supports the store’s front end by bagging groceries, collecting shopping carts, assisting customers, and maintaining cleanliness. The role requires a positive attitude, attention to detail, safe work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to excellent customer service. Courtesy Team Members help create a memorable customer experience and may assist customers in locating items throughout the store. The position is posted year-round to build a talent pool; current hiring needs may vary, and applications may be kept on file for future openings. For internal transfer or promotion candidates, there must have been no disciplinary action during the past six months, the current leader must recommend the candidate and provide an endorsement upon HR’s request, and the candidate may be asked to accept a part-time position if that is the only position available.
Requirements
- Be friendly and customer-service oriented.
- Be self-motivated, with strong attention to detail, quality, and presentation.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.
- Work independently, manage time effectively, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Read, understand, and follow verbal and written directions.
- Reliably meet the required work schedule and comply with the company attendance policy.
- Work safely in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service.
- Be at least 18 years old, or 16 years old with a valid work permit.
Responsibilities
- Bag customers’ groceries neatly and orderly.
- Verify prices for cashiers when necessary.
- Collect shopping carts from the parking lot and help customers carry groceries to their cars.
- Maintain a cheerful and helpful attitude toward customers and other team members.
- Keep the store and restrooms clean and tidy.
- Assist with “go backs” and accompany customers to locate items throughout the store.
