The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags customers’ groceries at checkout, helps customers with merchandise and loading bags into their cars, and supports store cleanliness, safety, and operations. The role includes returning merchandise to shelves, gathering and returning shopping carts, cleaning inside and outside the store, assisting customers with product questions and price checks, and following food safety regulations, company guidelines, and applicable laws. The position requires working cooperatively in a fast-paced environment, managing conflict constructively, acting with honesty and integrity, and providing support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while preventing damage and following best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers’ merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Answer customers’ questions about products in the department and throughout the store, helping them feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
Follow applicable local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
