About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags customers’ groceries, helps remove merchandise from the bottom of the bascart, and offers assistance loading bags into customers’ cars. The role also includes basic shelf conditioning, informing customers about grocery specials, returning merchandise to shelves, gathering and returning bascarts, cleaning store and parking-lot areas, and handling and assembling seasonal merchandise. Associates answer product questions, help locate products, conduct price checks for cashiers, follow safety and food-safety guidelines, and report unsafe conditions or equipment needing repair. The position requires cooperation in a fast-paced environment, appropriate conflict management, honesty in handling customer and business information, and support for minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, striving to place at least five items in each bag while preventing damage.
Follow best practices for bagging items in reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers’ merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Adhere to food-safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager about items needing repair.
Answer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store, helping customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
