About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger helps create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintains a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Duties include bagging groceries, assisting customers with merchandise and loading, maintaining store and parking lot cleanliness, returning merchandise and carts, supporting store operations, and helping customers with questions and product information. The position also requires following safety, food safety, legal, and company guidelines and working cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while preventing damage and following best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers' merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Help customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and throughout the store.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity.
Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
