About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries at checkout, assists customers with merchandise and loading bags into their cars, and helps maintain store cleanliness and organization. The role also supports customers by answering questions, locating products, conducting price checks, and informing them about grocery specials. Associates follow safety, food safety, legal, and company guidelines, and report unsafe conditions or equipment requiring repair.

Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, striving to place at least five items in each bag while ensuring items are not damaged.
Follow best practices for bagging items in reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers' merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to store management.
Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Answer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store, creating a welcoming experience for customers.
Adhere to local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
