About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Duties include bagging groceries carefully, assisting customers with merchandise and loading bags into their cars, maintaining store and parking-lot cleanliness, returning merchandise, gathering carts, conditioning shelves, and helping customers locate products or learn about specials. The role also involves following food-safety and safety procedures, inspecting equipment, reporting hazards or repair needs, and complying with applicable laws and company guidelines. Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while preventing damage and following best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers’ merchandise from the bottom of the bascart and offer to load bags into customers’ cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning and inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot; clean areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Follow food-safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager about items needing repair.
Help customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity.
Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide direct support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
