About The Position

This supervisory position oversees the daily operations of the division, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with court policies and procedures. Responsibilities include hiring, training, evaluating, and supporting staff; assigning and prioritizing work; developing performance standards; and coordinating employee training and cross-training programs. The incumbent serves as a resource for court personnel, judicial officers, attorneys, partner agencies, and the public by responding to inquiries and facilitating effective communication. Additional duties include preparing audit reports, monitoring workflow, participating in stakeholder meetings, and maintaining court schedules and records within the CourtView case management system. This position also performs case management and customer service functions as needed, including processing filings, opening cases, fulfilling records requests, and providing backup coverage for other clerk positions to ensure continuous court operations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND two years of legal office clerical work experience.
  • OR Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND four years of office clerical work experience.
  • OR A bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college.
  • Post-secondary transcripts, if using education to meet minimum qualifications.
  • A list of three (3) professional references who have had supervisory authority over you, including your most recent supervisor, along with their daytime contact phone numbers and email addresses.
  • A professional letter of interest explaining how you meet the minimum qualifications and express interest in employment with the Alaska Court System.
  • Certification that you have a legal right to accept employment in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Legal office clerical work experience includes service such as a Court Case Manager 1, Court Case Manager 2, Courtroom Judicial Assistant, or Administrative Assistant 1 with the Alaska Court System, or work in a public or private sector law office requiring the review and processing of legal documents.
