Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree
  • Three years of professional experience
  • One year of which shall have included experience in calendar management; case management; enforcement of court orders; and/or supervision, monitoring and intervention of offenders
  • Knowledge of higher-level complex case types such as juvenile supervision, mental health, mental health diversion, domestic violence, recovery court, gun violence, and/or adult clients under sex offender supervision
  • Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position
  • Possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position
  • Authorization to work in the US
  • Agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting
  • Establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey (within one year of hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits.
  • An associate's degree and two years of additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • A master's degree may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above
  • A law degree may be substituted for two years of general experience as indicated above

Responsibilities

  • Assigning workloads and specific duties to staff or team members
  • Directing and coordinating work between units or teams
  • Communicating Human Resources policies, rules, and regulations to team members
  • Scheduling team members’ work hours and leave time
  • Conducting work performance evaluations with staff
  • Evaluating unit or team performance
  • Mediating staff conflicts
  • Reviewing and correcting the work of staff and checking written reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Mentoring, coaching, and engaging staff
  • Ensuring staff follow the guidelines of the Enhanced Outcome-Based Supervision (EOBS) Model, make effective use of Risk Needs-Responsivity (RNA) instruments, Core Correctional Practice skills, Structured Response Grid (SRG) Policy and Procedure, and other tools to effectively engage clients and help change behaviors
  • Proactively enforcing court orders
  • Developing and collaborating with system stakeholders and internal and external partners
  • Proactively collaborating and maintaining strong partnerships with other supervisors in the division and providing coverage, as required
  • Ensuring the delivery of quality client service to a broad range of diverse and multilingual court users
  • Conducting other related work as required to support the role of Probation
  • Supervising staff in any supervision team, including child support enforcement, adult, or juvenile supervision teams, based on operational needs and at management’s discretion
  • Working an Alternate Work Schedule, which will include late nights and weekends (for positions in adult and juvenile units)
