About The Position

The court deputy will be responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to, perform law enforcement duties, maintaining order in the courtroom, escorting inmates to and from the correctional facility, serving the requests of the judge, searching inmates and/or visitors, conduct pre-courtroom preparation, monitor all activities within the courtroom, direct and supervise the jury pool, patrol the courthouse holding facility, check alarms, inspect transport vehicles, review docket and inmate records, oversee security area checkpoints and perform varied law enforcement duties when necessary. This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Must be Florida Law Enforcement Certified or currently attending a Florida Law Enforcement Academy.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Applicants who do not possess an Associate's Degree or equivalent must successfully complete the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test and achieve a score of 267 or higher in Verbal Skills and 241 or higher in Quantitative Skills (math).
  • Sworn Law Enforcement and Corrections Deputies must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 267 and Quantitative - 241.
  • Must submit to a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Must submit to a polygraph examination.
  • Must submit to medical examinations.
  • Must submit to drug and tobacco screening.
  • Must submit to psychological examination (certified and communications positions).
  • Must agree to have a background investigator review social networking websites.
