About The Position

The Ketchikan Trial Court is accepting applications for a detail-oriented and organized Court Case Manager 2 (salary range 12). The successful applicant will process jury and civil paperwork, and assist counter and telephone customers. Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for an advance step placement. Personnel rules will be applied to determine step placement for the successful internal candidate. The Civil Clerk processes and maintains civil cases, including protective orders, landlord/tenant matters, name changes, Superior Court appeals, and other civil proceedings. Duties include reviewing and processing filings, opening and closing cases, scheduling hearings and trials, preparing notices, processing judgments, orders, defaults, dismissals, and writs of execution, maintaining case records, and assisting judges with case materials. The position also processes domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault protective orders and provides support for appeals and other civil matters. As Jury Clerk, the position coordinates petit and grand jury activities, including processing questionnaires, excusals and deferrals, maintaining juror records, monitoring jury trials, coordinating out-of-town juror travel, preparing jury assembly, providing juror orientation, serving as bailiff, and completing required jury reports. The position also provides front-counter and telephone customer service, opens cases, accepts and processes filings, assists the public with protective order petitions, processes payments and bail, and performs general clerk’s office duties. Additional responsibilities include supporting other clerk functions, daily deposits, mail, forms, records, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.
  • OR Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.
  • OR A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
  • Post-secondary transcripts, if using education to meet minimum qualifications.
  • Copies of your most recent (2) performance evaluations or two (2) letters of recommendation.
  • A list of three (3) professional references who have had supervisory authority over you along with their daytime contact phone numbers and email addresses.
  • Certify that you have a legal right to accept employment in the United States.
