About The Position

This course will focus on the study of the physiological control mechanisms and pathophysiologic alterations in health across the lifespan, looking at selected diseases that are the most prevalent in North America. It will explore concepts of disease causation: acquired, immune, infectious, carcinogenic, genetic, and biochemical alterations in health in selected body systems. There will be an emphasis on etiology, cellular and systemic pathophysiologic responses, clinical manifestations, diagnostic, and treatment modalities. Requirements

  • Nurse with M.Sc.(A) in Nursing with expertise in physiology, pathology and pharmacology in a clinical context
  • Demonstrated excellence in previous teaching experiences
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • An ongoing focus on fostering a positive learning environment for all students and their learning needs
  • Thorough grasp of nursing theory pertaining to bodily functions, the major dysfunctions and pathologies as well as fundamental knowledge of the most common classes of medications
  • Fluency in English and French (written and verbal) preferred
  • Ability with technology an asset
  • Previous lecturing and teaching assistant experience of similar course content is a strong asset
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with team members on the delivery of the course; from developing course material to teaching content to assessing understanding and critical thinking; creating an environment that facilitates learning and preparing students to scientific literacy and promote evidence-informed care.
  • Preparation of courses and teaching materials
  • Preparation of assignments, tests, and grading rubrics
  • Facilitation of group activities, using remote instruction modalities
  • Ongoing communication with students and other facilitators, as needed
  • Be available to hold virtual office hours if needed
  • 39-hour student contact hours (NOT including assessments, planning and meetings): course planning, teaching, and grading assignments.
