About The Position

The Department of Psychology is seeking a qualified instructor to teach Sleep Mechanisms and Behaviour (PSYC 444) during the Fall 2026 term. This course covers basic biological mechanisms, possible functions and behavioural aspects of sleep, their effects on behaviour and cognition, and treatment approaches; as well as medical, neurological and psychiatric disorders, and drugs that affect sleep.

Requirements

  • Completed PhD or enrolled in a doctoral program in Psychology
  • Provide evidence of effective teaching ability as a result of having successfully taught a similar course
  • The candidate’s area of specialization must be as close as possible to that of the course being offered
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec
  • English communication both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • Prepare formal lectures, organize classroom discussion and student presentation on the topics which cover basic biological mechanism, possible functions and behavioural aspects of sleep
  • Assess student’s assignments, presentations, and research project reports
  • Supervise and support Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.
  • Assess student work, including assignments, presentations, and research project reports.
