About The Position

McGill University is seeking an instructor for the course Earth and Life Through Time, EPSC 233 (3 credits). This course teaches students about the evolution of life and the Earth system, from the origin of the planet to today. It provides an introduction to the structure and composition of the Earth and the origin and diversity of life, emphasizing the use of stratified rocks and fossils to interpret Earth and life history, with a focus on North America. The assessment methods can be adapted to the instructor's pedagogical approach, including the design of course assignments, quizzes, and a final examination. Responsibilities include teaching, course management, developing exam materials, contributing to grading, and supervising Teaching Assistants (TAs). TA support is based on enrollment, forecasted at 90 students for Fall 2026. The lecture schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 01:05 pm to 02:25 pm in SADB 1/12. Applicants must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in Quebec. McGill University is an English-language institution, requiring English communication skills both verbally and in writing.
