About The Position

The Department of History and Classical Studies is inviting applications to teach a course in fall 2026. CLAS 331 Intermediate Modern Greek 1 focuses on oral and written competence in the language at the intermediate level through the study of grammar and vocabulary. Excerpts from literature, film, and music will be used to introduce the civilization of modern Greece. The course is scheduled to run from August 31 to December 4, 2026, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:05 am to 11:25 am in Leacock 819. This course will be taught in-person by one instructor.

Requirements

  • PhD or ABD in Greek language or Literature or related field preferred
  • Experience in Greek language instruction required
  • Fluency in Greek required
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec
  • English communication skills (verbal and written) required

Responsibilities

  • Teach CLAS 331 Intermediate Modern Greek 1
  • Conduct oral and written instruction in the Greek language at an intermediate level
  • Utilize grammar and vocabulary study
  • Incorporate excerpts from literature, film, and music to introduce modern Greek civilization
  • Teach the course in-person
