About The Position

The Courier drives an American Red Cross vehicle to pick up, deliver, and properly store products and other lightweight materials along an assigned route or as needed. The role also performs transport, loading, and shipping and receiving duties to support ARC Blood Services. Couriers are expected to provide positive, proactive, customer-focused service to internal and external customers and to show up reliably for each shift.

The standard schedule is 16 hours per week, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM. The hourly pay rate is $17.05, with an additional weekend shift differential of $3.50–$5.00 per hour. Selected candidates must attend New Employee Orientation during the first three days of employment, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; remaining training is on the job.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and clean DMV record.
• Ability to drive for long periods.
• Ability to perform the listed physical tasks, including frequently lifting or moving 10–50-pound objects unassisted and pushing carts weighing up to 100 pounds on flat flooring or ramps.
• Ability to withstand temperatures in a typical blood banking environment, including refrigerators and freezers.
• Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable needs.
• Ability to attend New Employee Orientation for the first three days of employment, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

• Previous experience with a messenger service or trucking company.

Responsibilities

• Operate a vehicle safely and in compliance with traffic laws to deliver blood products and materials.
• Verify orders, load vehicles, and maintain route supply inventory to support prompt delivery.
• Document temporary storage and transportation of blood, blood products, and materials in accordance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
• Provide basic information and positive, proactive customer service to employees and other customers.
• Keep vehicles clean and check fluid and gas levels to maintain vehicle condition.
• Provide shipping and receiving support as directed.
• Perform additional transport or loading duties to support ARC Blood Services.
