About The Position

The Courier procures specimens from physician offices, delivers reports, files laboratory reports, and orders tests and labels specimens according to established protocols. The role provides courier services to clients, secures specimens in a timely manner, and supports communication and coordination between physician offices and the laboratory.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent is preferred.
• Previous experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Provide laboratory courier services to clients and secure specimens in a timely manner.
• Confirm that required billing information and correct samples are provided before leaving an office.
• Serve as a liaison between physician offices and the department director, ensuring problems and concerns are handled appropriately.
• Develop a strong communication link between the laboratory and physician clients.
• Fill supply orders using approved policies.
• Order tests and label tubes with minimal errors.
• Check requisitions for correctness and completeness.
• Take copies of requisitions to admitting in a timely manner.
• Deliver reports and file laboratory reports.
