About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking a customer-focused, compassionate Courier to deliver and return blood products and materials to internal and external customers. The role requires compliance with safety policies and procedures and use of applicable protective equipment to help prevent exposure to potentially infectious blood and body fluids. Couriers are expected to show up for every shift, support team members, and interact positively and proactively with customers.

The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Flexibility is required to work outside regularly scheduled hours, including late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Pay is $16 per hour, with an applicable shift differential of up to $5.00 per hour for late nights, overnights, and weekends. Compensation may depend on work location, skills, experience, and comparison with other employees in the role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.
• Ability to drive for long periods.
• Ability to work flexibly outside regular scheduled hours, including late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

• Previous experience with a messenger service or trucking company.

Responsibilities

• Operate a vehicle safely and in compliance with traffic laws to deliver blood products and materials.
• Verify orders, load vehicles, and maintain route supply inventory to support prompt deliveries.
• Document temporary storage and transportation of blood, blood products, and materials as required by internal and external regulations.
• Provide basic information and positive, proactive customer service to employees.
• Keep the vehicle clean and check fluid and gas levels to maintain excellent vehicle condition.
• Provide shipping and receiving support as directed.
• Follow safety policies and procedures and use applicable protective equipment.
