About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking a customer-focused, compassionate Courier to deliver and return blood products and materials to internal and external customers. The Courier follows safety policies and procedures and uses applicable protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially infectious blood and body fluids. Team members are expected to show up for every shift, give their full effort, and interact positively and proactively with customers and colleagues.

The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Flexibility is required to work outside regularly scheduled hours, including late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Pay is $16 per hour, plus an applicable shift differential of up to $5.00 per hour for late-night, overnight, and weekend work. Actual pay may also depend on skills, experience, and comparison with employees in similar roles.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.
• Ability to drive for long periods.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, pulling, pushing, and moving objects up to 50 pounds; frequently pushing carts weighing up to 100 pounds on flat flooring or ramps; and sitting for long periods.
• Ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours, including late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Operate a vehicle safely and within traffic laws to deliver blood products and materials.
• Verify orders, load vehicles, and maintain route supply inventory to support prompt delivery.
• Document temporary storage and transportation of blood, blood products, and materials as required by internal and external regulations.
• Provide basic information and positive, proactive customer service to employees and other customers.
• Keep the vehicle clean and check fluid and gas levels to maintain excellent vehicle condition.
• Provide shipping and receiving support as directed.
• Comply with safety policies and procedures and use applicable protective equipment.
