About The Position

Hog Slat, Incorporated is seeking a Counter Sales Representative for its retail location in Laurinburg, North Carolina. The role serves retail customers in person and by phone, helping them identify their needs and recommending suitable parts and equipment for hog and poultry operations. The representative also shares information about new products and promotions and promotes Hog Slat and Grower Select products.

The position combines customer service and sales with store operations. Duties include using office equipment and computer systems, handling cash transactions, supporting inventory management, unloading deliveries with a forklift, shelving products, completing cycle counts, and helping keep the store clean and orderly. The representative is expected to be punctual for scheduled store hours, participate in company and vendor training, and continually develop industry knowledge.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the farming industry.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds.
• Willingness and ability to obtain forklift certification and use a forklift regularly.
• Understanding of email and Microsoft Office products for daily tasks.
• Ability to quickly learn inventory management software.
• Valid driver license.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of parts and equipment used in modern hog operations is strongly preferred.
• Previous customer service experience is strongly preferred.
• At least one year working in a modern hog or poultry farming operation is preferred.
• Familiarity with the local hog or poultry industry and producers in the area is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with retail customers in person and over the phone to understand their needs.
• Recommend parts and equipment that address customers’ needs.
• Educate customers about new products and special promotions and promote Hog Slat and Grower Select products.
• Operate office equipment, handle cash transactions, and use computer operating systems.
• Assist with inventory management, including unloading stock deliveries with a forklift, shelving products, and performing cycle counts.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly store.
• Arrive on time and ready to work for all scheduled store hours.
• Take advantage of training opportunities offered by the company and its vendors.
• Continually upgrade industry knowledge.
