About The Position

Hog Slat, Incorporated, a provider of parts, equipment, and turnkey construction for the swine and poultry industries, is hiring a Counter Sales Representative for its retail location in Union City, Ohio. The role serves retail customers in person and by phone, helping them identify their needs and recommending appropriate parts and equipment. It also supports product promotion, store operations, and inventory management.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the farming industry.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds.
• Willingness and ability to obtain forklift certification and use a forklift regularly.
• Understanding of email and Microsoft Office products for daily tasks.
• Ability to quickly learn inventory management software.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of parts and equipment used in modern hog operations is strongly preferred.
• Previous customer service experience is strongly preferred.
• At least one year working in a modern hog farming operation is preferred.
• Familiarity with the local hog industry and area hog producers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with retail customers in-store and over the phone to understand their needs.
• Recommend suitable parts and equipment to address customers’ needs.
• Educate customers about new products and special promotions, and promote Hog Slat and Grower Select products.
• Operate office equipment, handle cash transactions, and use computer operating systems efficiently.
• Assist with inventory management, including unloading stock trucks with a forklift, shelving products, and performing cycle counts.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly store.
• Arrive on time and ready to work for all scheduled store hours.
• Participate in training opportunities offered by the company and vendors.
• Continually upgrade industry knowledge.
