About The Position

Hog Slat, Incorporated, a provider of parts, equipment, and turn-key construction to the swine and poultry industries, is seeking a Counter Sales Representative for its retail location in Laurinburg, North Carolina. The role serves retail customers in person and by phone, helps identify suitable parts and equipment, promotes products, and supports store operations and inventory management. The position calls for farming-industry knowledge, customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to handle physical inventory tasks.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the farming industry.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds.
• Willingness and ability to obtain forklift certification and use a forklift regularly.
• Understanding of email and Microsoft Office products for daily tasks.
• Ability to quickly learn inventory management software.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of parts and equipment used in modern hog operations is strongly preferred.
• Previous customer service experience is strongly preferred.
• At least one year working in a modern hog or poultry farming operation is preferred.
• Familiarity with the local hog and poultry industry and producers in the area is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with retail customers in-store and over the phone to understand their needs.
• Recommend parts and equipment that address customers’ needs.
• Educate customers about new products and special promotions and promote Hog Slat and Grower Select products.
• Operate office equipment, handle cash transactions, and use computer operating systems efficiently.
• Assist with inventory management, including unloading stock trucks with a forklift, shelving products, and performing cycle counts.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly store.
• Arrive on time and ready to work for all scheduled store hours.
• Take advantage of training opportunities offered by the company and its vendors.
• Continually upgrade industry knowledge.
