About The Position

American Welding & Gas, Inc. has an immediate opportunity for a Counter Representative / Backup Driver at its Tullahoma, Tennessee location. The position primarily assists customers with purchasing and ordering gases and welding and industrial supplies. It also supports hard-goods maintenance, receiving, inventory control, and backup cylinder deliveries. The position requires a Class B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, or the ability to obtain both. Applicants must have a clean driving record and complete a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and company-administered road test. The work includes moving compressed gas and liquid cylinders, frequently lifting 50–75 pounds, and maneuvering cylinders weighing more than 100 pounds using rolling or a cart. Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Class B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, or ability to obtain both.
Clean driving record.
Able to read and write English.
Able to move compressed gas and liquid cylinders, frequently lift 50–75 pounds, and maneuver cylinders weighing more than 100 pounds using rolling or a cart.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and company-administered road test.
Ability to communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

Assist customers in the store and by phone with purchasing and ordering products.
Handle cylinder returns, exchanges, and purchases.
Process cash and charge-account transactions; reconcile cash, credit card, and charge transactions and end-of-day cash drawers.
Conduct branch collection activities and customer-retention calls.
Assist the manager with opening and closing the store, including securing cylinders and other areas and setting alarms.
Monitor inventory levels, check in inventory, and put it away.
Receive freight and create barcode labels with part numbers.
Schedule deliveries and service calls.
Support the outside sales team.
Follow and comply with company safety policies.
Work with the store manager to achieve or surpass budgeted sales projections while keeping expenses within management-allocated parameters to achieve profitability.
Assist the manager with building and equipment maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Provide backup cylinder delivery.
