About The Position

Ferguson is seeking a knowledgeable, results-driven Counter Sales Associate to advise plumbing and HVAC contractor customers, help them make informed purchasing decisions, and support their business needs while aligning with the company’s sales strategy. The role focuses on building customer relationships, driving sales, and delivering exceptional service. The associate serves customers at the counter, by phone, and by email; provides product guidance; processes transactions; coordinates special orders and follow-ups; and supports account growth and inventory management. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a rotating Saturday shift from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and overtime as needed. The starting pay is $26 per hour and may be higher based on experience. The listed pay range is $21.63–$30.26 per hour, and the role is eligible for a bonus or incentive plan.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in customer service or sales.

Responsibilities

Engage customers at the counter, by phone, and by email to understand their needs and recommend solutions.
Continuously learn about plumbing, HVAC, and related products and use that knowledge to guide customer decisions.
Drive sales growth by identifying opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, and promote strategic products and programs.
Use catalogs, computer systems, and manufacturer databases to locate parts and provide accurate, timely information.
Process transactions efficiently and accurately while providing a positive customer experience.
Collaborate with Outside Sales Associates to support account growth and provide seamless service.
Manage special orders and follow up on order status, back-orders, and delivery timelines.
Maintain a professional, organized counter environment.
Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and stock organization.
Follow safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment such as a safety harness with a maximum weight capacity of 400 lbs.
