About The Position
As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator with the Department of Corrections, you will play a key role in keeping critical plant systems operating smoothly. This position allows you to use mechanical skills and problem-solving to maintain the boiler plant and auxiliary equipment at SCI Coal Township. Requirements
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain proper boiler function by reading gauges, performing maintenance, and managing emergency situations
- Operate pumps, fans, feeders, and other support equipment to maintain plant performance
- Test boiler water and softening systems and maintain accurate logs of results and supplies
- Direct inmate workers, monitor movement, control tools, and maintain a secure work area
- Keep plant areas clean, organized, and stocked during daily operations
