About The Position
The Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Corrections Nurse 1/2 position located at Lemon Creek Correctional Center (LCCC) in Juneau, Alaska. This role involves providing general nursing care to patients, including triage and assessment, administering prescribed medications and treatments, maintaining patient medical records, observing and documenting changes in inmate conditions, and handling crisis situations calmly and effectively. The Health and Rehabilitation Services (HARS) division is committed to the wellbeing of those under the care of the Alaska Department of Corrections, ensuring individuals are treated in a safe, respectful, and compassionate manner, dedicated to providing essential care and promoting health and rehabilitation. Requirements
- Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
- One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse (for Corrections Nurse 2).
- Professional License: Alaska RN License or ability to obtain one
- 3 Professional References, 2 of which must be supervisory

- Must pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting.
- Must provide proof they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Corrections Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska (for Corrections Nurse 2).
- Prior service as a Corrections Nurse 1, Psychiatric Nurse 1, or Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.
- Combinations of prior training and experience in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Med-Surg, Psychiatric, Public Health, Critical Care) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.
