Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Leads inmate workers in daily food service tasks and ensures that meals are prepared safely, properly, and on schedule.
- Teaches inmates how to prepare, cook, and serve meals according to recipes.
- Instructs proper cleaning, equipment use, and safe food handling practices.
- Inspects work areas, tools, and food items to ensure sanitation and safety standards are met.
- Receives, stores, and rotates food and supplies using first-in first-out procedures.
- Plans, assigns, and reviews inmate work tasks and maintains performance records.
