About The Position

The Corrections Community Center Monitor position with the Department of Corrections offers a meaningful way to support people as they work toward positive change. Requirements

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to work in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
  • Must be willing and able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to: performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the military)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor reentrant behavior, maintain logs, and conduct searches to support a secure environment
  • Guide new reentrants through center rules, services, room assignments, and required checks
  • Administer and document breathalyzer and urinalysis tests when individuals return to the center
  • Provide information to visitors and respond to concerns with professionalism and sensitivity
  • Serve as a contact for law enforcement and participate in legal proceedings as needed
  • Inspect living and common areas to maintain cleanliness, safety, and compliance

Benefits

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,081.00 (before taxes).
