Requirements
- Four years of experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various components and systems used in automobiles, trucks, or construction or heavy equipment; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the automotive mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the automotive mechanic trade.
- Possession of an active Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Technician Certificate issued by an approved provider.
- Possession of an active Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Driver's License or equivalent.
- Possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- Possession of an active Pennsylvania Emissions Inspection Certification.
- Possession of an active Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification for Class C vehicles and Class 7.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Meet the PA residency requirement.
- Able to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach automotive inspection, repair, and overhaul skills through classroom lessons and hands-on training
- Direct inmate work crews, assign schedules, and review completed tasks for quality
- Issue, track, and account for all tools and materials used during training and work assignments
- Maintain documentation of inmate attendance, progress, and assignment details
- Identify needed supplies and submit purchase requests to support ongoing training activities
